find the light (The Brilliance Edit) Debuted on the Spotify official New Music Friday Christian Editorial playlist and has gained more than 225,000 streams.

In late 2020 I enlisted The Brilliance, John Lucas, Tyson Motsenbocker, and Zach Winters to help reimagine 4 songs I had previously released. Almost all have received editorial support on Spotify, including placements on New Music Friday Christian and Calming Christian, and the project now has close to 500,000 streams.

I had the opportunity to open for Colony House in Boise, ID in March of 2020. I remember being so nervous before that gig - I had a sense of “I don’t belong here.”

I was lucky enough to spend some time with the band backstage and learned that they were as cool off stage as they were on it. When I started to dream about collaborating with another artist on a remix of “heavy” Will Chapman was the first to come to mind. He created something really special and I’m proud to have had the opportunity to work with him.

While this sound differs a lot from everything else I’ve released, it felt like a good way to finish out 2020. Such a melancholic year that needed a little bit of hype.

There are plenty more collaboration projects on the way - thanks for staying tuned!

“Lost in Translation” was my second quarantine recording project. This EP happened somewhat unintentionally.

The term “lost in translation” came to me on a walk in Cheesman Park one afternoon. It immediately had profound meaning to me and I knew it would hold unique meaning to every person that saw it as well.

While the lead single “Gettysburg” was meant to be exactly that, a single, the positive response urged me to make it the start of a full project. I was quickly becoming engrossed in chill/lo-fi music and I wanted to attempt being a part of that music culture.

I found a blend of lo-fi and folk that felt unique, calming and fresh. “heavy” was the second track released in this new vein and was met with especially positive feedback gaining more than 30,000 streams in its first two weeks on Spotify.

Following up “heavy” and “gettysburg” was a cover of Iron & Wine’s “naked as we came” as well as 1 more original song, “peach.”

“Wearing Thin” was the start of something brand new in my musical journey.

After having 20+ headline tour dates canceled in March of 2020 I was absolutely devastated. Playing live shows had become such an important part of my life and they were removed overnight.

I took that pain and bought a $50 used Shure SM57 mic from guitar center and started learning everything I could about home recording. As you’d expect, the earliest recordings were really, really bad.

Recognizing that I had literally nothing else to do and I had to get creative about keeping music a part of my life, I just kept going. Slowly but surely I liked what I was recording more and more.

I started with doing acoustic versions of songs my band had already released and then started writing original material. The songs came in a new form - much more raw and delicate than anything else I’d tried before.

This 3 song EP became the foundation to a story I’m still working on unraveling today.
